The Pearson PTE Academic test is considered for immigration or student visa purposes. The PTE score for admissions to different courses is also recognized by most Australian, New Zealand, UK and several US and Canadian universities. PTE test starts with an introduction followed by speaking, writing, reading, and at last listening section.

The PTE Academic test lasts nearly three hours and is a completely computer-based test. The test is conducted at several approved Pearson testing centres. A monitor, headset, erasable notepad and pens/pencils will be given for the test time by the corresponding PTE testing centre. During the evaluation, test-takers will take notes anytime they choose. Approximately 10 to 30 candidates are able to offer the exam concurrently throughout the same room. The exam is self-paced so that each individual will begin or finish the exam at will, but when everybody is ready to go to the examination room, the test normally begins. In the private closets issued by the research centre, technological devices such as cell phones or other personal things are kept out.
